What Are You Eating?

There are many different ways of eating these days. You may have heard of eating clean, vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, gluten free, or real food. The thing is while all these ways eating are suppose to make people healthier, they may be doing some harm.

Just because you are eating a diet in vegetables does not mean you are eating healthier if they are genetically mutant organisms, and laden with pesticides. So, you wash your vegetables, but many are injected with pesticides, so when they are used it will not harm the plant, but will you.

The best way to make sure you are not be poisoned by your food is to eat organic. While organic has its issues it is better than the GMO junk which contains other unhealthy chemicals.

  • High Fructose Corn Syrup which is contaminated with mercury, also comes from corn which is 86% genetically mutant. You will find this in breads, sauces, condiments, pop, candy, and more read the label, and run.
  •  They also contain sugar which comes from the sugar beet which is 95% genetically modified.
  • Many contain some type of soy, soy lecithin, or soybean oil, 93% of all soy is genetically modified. Some may contain either cottonseed oil, or canola oil, 90% of canola is genetically modified, while 93% of all cotton products are modified.
  • Mono-sodium glutamate may be lurking disguised as natural flavoring, or glutamic acid. This ingredient is known to promote growth of cancer, and also aids to spread cancer cells.
  •  Aspartame is found as a sugar substitute in no sugar added products, and is deadly.
  •  Artificial coloring makes foods look pretty, but did you know that they are made from chemicals which are derived from petroleum? Which are also used to make gasoline, tar, diesel fuel, and asphalt.

Now if that doesn't make you want to start eating real food (organic) I don't know what would. Did you know that all the major illnesses we deal with have risen drastically since 1995? That was when they really starting mutating the food supply. Did you also know that many people have been cured of certain health issues by switching to real food (organic)? Did you also know that our bodies do not recognize the GMO junk, and it is the reason for obesity, and other illnesses?

Let me share my personal experience with GMO junk, and real food. I have worked out, and watched what I ate for over 20 years. I learned what I could eat, how much weight I could gain, and how to exercise to maintain my ideal weight. Last year, I found that a normal meal I would eat no longer satisfied me, thus I started gaining weight that my normal work out routine did not effect.

I started learning about GMOs, and learned the reason I was not satisfied after a meal was because the food I was eating no longer contained the vitamins and minerals our bodies need. Here I was thinking my body needed more food!! We started eating all organic, and the weight dropped right off with out changing anything. Now I have more energy, and feel better than I have felt in awhile.

You are probably wondering why it didn't effect me years ago. That is because they have done this little by little, like adding a drop of food dye to a body of water. At first you don't notice it, but as time goes by all of the sudden you notice the water is purple??? I believe at this time GMOs are at their peek of devastating the health and lives of Americans.

GMOs are also known to cause violent behavior. My teens would physically fight at least once a month. I have noticed that this has not happened in months. It could be because they are older now, but I think the GMOs did have something to do with it. Additional hormones in food can cause a host of problems in the body, I believe that is the cause for the violent behavior.

If this sounds like you I challenge you to eat organic for a month, and see if the extra weight doesn't come off, and you feel better. This is only if it has been a recent occurrence like mine was.

Eating out has become a challenge, but we have 3 restaurants we will eat at. Even still there is only one thing we will eat at them, fish. One time we strayed from this rule, and found our selves sick later that evening. Won't make that mistake again.

    1. I tried a few before I settled on Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Turbinado Raw Cane Sugar. You are right to avoid aspartame, that stuff causes various health issues. Up point is when most people stop using it the symptoms go away.

  4. Thank you for being such a great voice against GMO foods, Joyce. I really appreciate you sharing this with our Let's Get Real readers. I'm surprised that most of us (including me till about a year ago) have never heard of GMOs and most people think they are talking about hybrid farming. So wrong! I can really relate to the feeling of always being hungry. That is exactly how I felt until I switched to eating real food. Come to find out.......hunger was my body's cry for nutrients and not just food that filled my belly.

  7. We try to eat organic whenever possible. It's hard here, as we are limited by being a small town, but I do what I can. We can at least get most of our fruits and veggies as organic, and milk too.

Not buying processed food makes a huge impact in avoiding GMOs and other harmful, unnecessary products. I've also found that I like baking with gluten free flour even though I don't need to. I find that my baked goods have a better consistency. And don't get me started on how much I love coconut oil!

  9. Thanks for sharing this, Joyce. So much good info to store away. I would like to one day be organic. I know the costs of it now would be worth it in the long run, but it's hard to remember that at times... Besides growing your own foods and purchasing organic of the "worst" non-organic foods, do you have any other suggestions for affording it?

    1. Becca, there are some places online where I have bought my food from. One the Green Polka Dot Box, requires a $50.00 annual membership, but if you order, I think it is over $75.00 you get free shipping. However, if you order cold/frozen items there is an extra charge, worth it, and not much.

I have also ordered from Abe's Market, they offer free shipping also on I think over $45.00, but do not have cold/frozen items.

Right now we are involved with an organic food co-op through Azure Standard. You can see if there is one near you by visiting their site. I like it because I can certain items I want in bulk.

We are also blessed to have two salvage stores in our area that carry expired, damaged organic items at way cheap. If you have any discount grocery stores that are similar I highly suggest checking them out, hope this helps.

    1. Yes, Gigi we need to pay close attention to everything. Even if it is not GMO we still deal with pesticides on vegetables, and fruit that can not be washed off. Shop your local farmer's market, and support them.
