Peace Tea 100% Natural

Recently I found Peace Tea, the ingredients included filtered water, tea, a few others and sucralose. It says 100%  natural and has all this cool stuff on it.

Oh look what I found a list of the ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:Brewed Natural Tea (Pure Filtered Water, Tea), Sugar, Citric Acid, Natural Flavors, Sucralose

Okay grant it the sucralose should have sent a red flag up for me not to drink it. However, out on the road I look for the best beverage and least amount of GMOs.

Needless to say sucralose is a GMO, and also goes by the name splenda. Well I know to avoid splenda, but these companies will do anything to make a buck including changing the name of a GMO product in hopes that we won't know, or ask questions.

It only goes to show you no matter how much you think you know, or how careful you are about what you put into your body, you can mess up. From now on if I don't know what the ingredients are it is not going in my body.

Here are some symptoms that go along with ingesting surcalose/splenda. For more information visit the photo credit link.

  1. Great post Joyce. Citric Acid can also be GMO so unless the tea is 100% non-GMO then the citric acid is probably GMO as well.

  2. It never fails to amaze me at what degrees that will go to to disguise their ingredients and trick people. You have to be so careful. thanks for sharing on Real Food Fridays. Will share on twitter and google.

  3. Here in England, many people, probably even most people drink tea without sugar or any other sweetener. It is an acquired taste but once you are used to unsweetened tea, any other tastes unpleasant.

    1. I think too that if that is how you are raised and know it isn't a problem. Here in the states we are raised with sugar, I wish it wasn't like that, and sorry I didn't know then what I know now. If so I wouldn't have raised my children the way I was raised, thanks for stopping by.
